Physical Therapy

Physical therapy, often abbreviated as “PT,” is a unique science and art that utilizes a wide variety of procedures to restore function to the body, reduce pain and help prevent future injury. This includes providing services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors. Physical therapists understand that functional movement is central to what it means to be healthy.

At the first visit, a patient undergoes an initial evaluation and an individualized plan of care is designed to meet the patient's specific rehabilitative needs. Under the supervision of a Rehab Services therapist, patient goals are established and treatment begins. Various physical therapy modalities may be utilized during treatment, including traction, electrical stimulation, whirlpool, ultrasound, ice and heat, as well as therapeutic exercise and manual therapy.
